History of Gangtok Ropeway

Gangtok Ropeway was built in 2003. The route goes from Deorali to Tashiling Secretariat (via Sikkim Legislative Assembly), bypassing much of the crowded market. This Gangtok Ropeway length is about one kilometer.

Gangtok Ropeway is open from 9.30 AM To 6 PM daily throughout the year. The running hours, though, might change slightly depending on sunlight and weather conditions of the day.

Gangtok Ropeway fare is ₹110 per person for adults and ₹70 per person for kids (3-5 years old). Kids below 3 years of age get free entry for the ride. While photography is free, video camera is charged extra.

The weather in Gangtok is the most comfortable around winter, just before and after. So, the ideal time to experience a Gangtok cable car ride is October/November or February/March. The summer season (from March to June) is also suitable. You can get clear views on most summer days.
